There is no attempt to provide historical dates and irrelevant details, for the purpose of this presentation is
to give the students a meaningful glimpse into a totally unfamiliar culture. The language used in the modules is simple and easy to follow. Many Hindu concepts have been simplified

Apart from a vast body of historical texts, India in Classrooms receives valuable nuggets of information and wisdom from the following updated websites………
Professor Subhash Kak
Dr. Subhash Kak, who is one of the world's leading historians of science, is a Delaune Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering
and Professor in the Asian Studies and Cognitive Science Programs at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. He was awarded a
Science Academy Medal by the Indian National Science Academy in 1977, a Halliburton Award in 1982, a UNDP Tokten Award in 1986, and the Goyal Prize in 1998.
He has authored ten books and more than 300 journal articles in various areas of science and Vedic studies. His books include 'The Nature of Physical Reality',
Peter Lang, 1986. More recently he co-authored the book, 'In Search of the Cradle of Civilization' which is a must read for every teacher of world history and social science.
Dr. N.S. Rajaram, a mathematician, one of America's best-known workers in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics,
has also been a consultant to NASA. One of the most influential historians of our time, he is best known for his work on Vedic India,
especially the decipherment of the Indus script with Natwar Jha, which they have now extended to all the seals.
"Dr. David Frawley is one of the most important scholars of Ayurveda and Vedic Science today.
I have great respect and admiration for his knowledge and the way he has expounded the ancient wisdom of the Vedas"
There are plenty of books available on the history and culture of India. However, teachers need to be cautioned Read Rajiv Malhotra's article: Hinduism in American Schools
against books that contain outdated theories about Indian history and misrepresentations of Indian culture. Many of these books and encyclopedias have been written from a Euro-centric perspective
that existed during British rule in India and this approach continues to dominate the academic scene. Whether it is Toynbee or the D. Kindersley encyclopedia, it is evident that the west has a lot to catch up with as far as India's
true history is concerned. There has been some progress in this direction since India's independence in 1947 where new light is been thrown on its ancient civilization. Since the Hindu culture had a deep impact upon India's history you will find books that overlap in their content.
The following is a very brief listing of some of the books that contain updated information about India's history and culture.
In Search of the Cradle of Civilization by Feuerstein, Kak and Frawley
India Unveiled by Robert Arnett
The true History and the Religion of India, A Concise Encyclopedia
Hinduism, The Universal Truth by Bhupendra Kumar Modi
Indian Culture Over the World S.V.Shevade
Proof of Vedic Culture's Global Existence by Stephen Knapp
AM I A HINDU? by Ed Viswanathan
Explaining Hindu Dharma A Guide for Teachers
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hinduism by Linda Johnsen
